So, today? Has kind of sucked.
A, the job thing. Every year, people in this town of a certain age (today, it's those born in '92, '91 and '90) get a three-week job. The pay isn't all that good, but still. It's enough to get by on during summer. Except, oh, look, I didn't get a job! And now it's sort of too late to find any kind of good job.
First of all, it's the time thing. Working three weeks of my eleven weeks off would be just enough (well, I wouldn't mind, say, five, but still). I'd get some money, but not have to work all summer. As soon as it's another job, hey, look, I'd probably have to work all summer! Sigh. And yes. The pay would be better. But still. Do not want.
Secondly, it's too late now to find something not, uh, awful. Like, yay, not only an entire summer of work, an entire summer of flipping burgers at fucking Big Boy. Just no.
But since I live at home and all, apparently my mum won't let me not work. She says I have to have some kind of income.
B, the school thing. This year, I'm taking a class called, like, "Audio Engineering A" or something. Whatever. It's all about recording and mixing sound and all. It's kind of awesome; I think it's my favourite subject, actually.
So when I chose my electives last year, I chose this subject, and Music Theory B, and something called "Music & Communication" - meaning, how you should act on stage and all. Right.
Now, recently, I decided to exchange Music Theory B for Audio Engineering B. So I did. I thought everything was going well (I talked to the teacher, even, and told him there are six of us who want this course now, and he said that'd be fine, since there are only five in this year's group). So I was all set on getting that.
Until today, when they called and said that hey, no, apparently not, since too few people had chosen that course last year. So now we don't get the chance. Great. I don't know whether that means Music Theory or nothing at all (I don't need it, I still have enough subjects).
But I really really want it! D:
In conclusion: Today has been made of fail. Fuck you, today.
Off to study math now.
Q out.

We have the same thing here where everyone gets a job for three weeks, except it's only for the people in the first and second year, not for people graduating so I couldn't even apply for it! (I did two years ago though) Which sucks because I could have gotten a job at the museum and you know which exhibitin is going to be there this summer right? Yeah, it would have rocked! Imagine walking around for three weeks dressed up as Leia! But no, I can't have that sort of luck. And my parents (and grand parents) are constantly nagging me about getting a job. I think I'm going to kill my self (probably after the season finale because I will die if I have no SGA to look forward to). And Ell not only has a job, she gets another too! I hate her and she's abandoned me. And I shall quit whining in your journal. I just wanted to tell you that I share your pain. Except for the part where my day actually was kind of good. XP

I don't like to spend my summers working for the man either, so previous years I've been doing odd jobs for my grandparents. That won't be possible this summer, so instead I've promised mom I'll be her very own housework slave. :P

And one for me as well, please.

The whole job thing is making me dizzy. Especially for my own part, since I'm graduating in less than a month, and have not yet received a definite decision of whether I'll get the job at HRC - which is the only job I've applied for, by the way - or applied for other jobs. I'm not panicked yet, but I guess that feeling will come creeping soon. At least my parents have not forced me to get a job as fast as possible, and for that I'm glad.
I guess what I'm trying to say is good luck with finding a job that you'll be able to stand!
How great that you're enjoying the audio engineering course! It seems like either you love it our you hate it - that's the impression I've gotten from my classmates anyway. And how brave to choose music theory B, it seems pretty tough. I was so glad when the A course was over, hah - I was suffering during periods of that course. But it's very handy!
